My name is Hannah James— I am an English teacher and aspiring writer currently living overseas in Taiwan. My works primarily consist of short stories and poetry, with the longterm goal of publishing a fiction novel. My days primarily consist of practicing Chinese, writing, and exploring the island of Taiwan on my pedal bike.
My professional experience includes a completed B.A. in English Literature, a B.S. in Secondary Education, and a minor in Chinese Mandarin. I have been in the fields of English education and English as a Foriegn Language for several years.
I am presently the honored recipient of NYCMidnight’s Short Story Challenge 2024 1st place and Writing Battle’s Winter 2024 1st place awards respectively.

The river snaked the valley, its black waters reflecting the constellations as a mirror. Moonlight washed the palace roofs in milky light, the towers glistening like lilies wet with dew. For the first time, the Palace of the Unceasing River seemed beautiful.
“You’re right,” Esmeray whispered, “Here, you can breathe.”
